This 1969 Ford Mustang Fastback Pro-touring machine is an original California Black Plate car. The California climate has been kind to the body of the car and it still retains all of its original metal. This Pony car has been photographed and showcased in Popular Hot Rodding, Car Craft and has many wins at Mustang Enthusiast Shows and Goodguy events. The Mustang won Best in Class, Editor’s Choice, People’s choice and Best in show at the Fun Ford Weekend.

The motor is a nasty little 347ci stroker with a Probe Industries kit, CNC Forged rods, SRS Forged pistons, a steel crank, CL77 bearings, ARP rod bolts, a Comp Cams XE274H camshaft (520 lift / 274 duration), Comp lifters, Comp pushrods, Harland Sharp 1.6 roller rockers, roller timing chain, and a ceramic coated timing cover. The entire engine was balanced prior to assembly.

A polished Paxton Novi 1200 supercharger puts out 6.5 PSI of boost rocketing the Mustang down the road. Hold on to your shorts, this Pony car is a thoroughbred at heart. The carburetor is a Speed Demon 750 MS, which flows through a ceramic coated Edelbrock RPM intake and Edelbrock RPM aluminum heads. Providing monster spark is a MSD 6AL box with timing courtesy of a MSD Billet distributor. A powdercoated 7 Quart Canton Race pan holds the oil and a Ron Davis aluminum radiator with a thermostatically controlled electric fan and a Flowcooler aluminum water pump keep the motor nice and cool year round.

The motor uses ARP fasteners throughout and has polished valve covers with Billet Specialties breathers. Turn the key and the Ford Motorsport mini starter kicks over the engine with ease. Providing a sweet, sweet exhaust note and good flow is a set of ceramic coated Tri Y headers with dual 2.5" mandrel exhaust with a true X pipe and Flowmaster 2-chamber mufflers.

You can row through the gears with precision using the Tremec T5z Cobra 5 speed. The overdrive transmission has a Kevlar clutch, HD pressure plate, new flywheel. The car uses a mechanical clutch and has a shortened and balanced driveshaft. The rear end is a built Ford 9" which has been narrowed to get those meaty rear wheels to fit under the fenders. Internals include Trac Lok 3.89 gears, Moser 31 spline axles, and ARP-studs.

This car is absolute street machine and it’s no accident either. Up front, you will find a Mustang II front end with Global West tubular upper and lower control arms, Global West strut bars, Afco single adjustable Coil overs with Eibach springs, a 1.5" sway bar, polished upper plates, polished MPG strut tower braces, Flaming River rack and pinion, and a Baer bumpsteer kit. The rear suspension has de-arched reverse eye leaf springs, KYB rear shocks, and Shelby under rider traction bars.

Bringing this beast to a standstill are a set of monstrous Baer Extreme Plus front brakes which utilize 6 piston Monoblock calipers and 14" slotted/drilled zinc coated 2- piece rotors. In the rear we see Baer Sport 12" slotted/drilled and zinc coated 2-piece rear rotors with PBR calipers. The car uses a Cobra master cylinder, Baer prop valve, and has all braided hoses with stainless steel brake lines.

The custom-built wheels are Simmons FR18 3-piece 18×8.5 fronts with 245/40/J8 Nitto 555Rs, Simmons FR 18 3-piece 18×10 rears with 305/35/18 Nitto Drag Radial 555Rs.These wheels are stunning from all angles and are very high quality Australian wheel builder.

Prior to the build, the entire car was disassembled, and stripped down to a bare metal shell before it was painted. The Mustang has unmolested original sheet metal, original floor pans, torque boxes and trunk floor. The Ford has a laser straight body and has Spies Hecker base/clear that has been hand finished to flow like glass. The car is straight from all angles which only speaks to the good quality original panels and well executed bodywork. The hood has been a finished in semi gloss, as have the headlight buckets and tail panel. Other bolt-ons include factory sport mirrors, a Boss 429 hood scoop, and front spoiler. All of the trim is new as are the bumpers. The Mustang has a trunk-mounted Optima battery, Billet battery bracket, all new weather-stripping and seals, and the floor and doors are lined with Dynamat sound deadener.

The interior of the Mustang has been completely restored as well. Recaro Speed seats replace the original buckets and offer awesome support through the twisties. The seat belts are brand new as are the carpet, dash pad, ’65 R model Tach pod w/Autometer boost and tach, and door panels. The fold down rear seat has new upholstery as well, and the headliner has been replaced. Standing in for the original column and wheel is a Flaming River tilt column and Budnik Split Grip steering wheel. A Hurst shifter connects the driver to a 5-speed transmission pedal assembly has been rebuilt as well. The car is equipped with a Kenwood AM/FM CD player with Sirius Satellite radio capabilities. The stereo uses two Kenwood rear speakers and two in the dash and is a big upgrade over the factory sound system.

For the Mustang enthusiast looking for an incredibly capable pro-touring car, the Ford has the looks and plenty of performance to boot!
