For thrill seekers that don’t shy away from the attention of the envious, comes this wicked 1968 RS/SS Pro Street Camaro. The quality of this vehicle is totally over the top and doesn’t leave any room for improvement. The Camaro is incredibly tight, very fast, and almost practical. Yes, we went ahead and said it, practical…. The ride is smooth, the car runs cool on the hottest days, it has AC, its easy to drive and free from the mess of switches and buttons found on many Pro Street cars. Just turn the key and go and with 652 HP on tap and a tire roasting 692 ft lbs of torque, the burden is on you to try and have fun.
The paint and body work on the Camaro cost over $26,000. All of the body seams are welded and smoothed, the door handles have been shaved, the drip rails have been shaved, and the firewall has been smoothed. The paint is House of Kolor Tangelo Pearl and the stripes are White Pearl. The stripes are buried under multiple coats of clear that was then hand finished to perfection. The paint job is an absolutely stunning show-quality-job free from the flaws the plague 99% of classic cars on the market.
The engine cost over $16,000 to build and was constructed using a Merlin III block, Merlin III heads, a hydraulic roller Comp Cam, Comp Cams Roller lifters, Comp Cams Push Rods, Crane Roller rocker arms, ARP bolts throughout, SRP pistons, Total Seal rings and Cleavite bearings, a ported and coated Dart intake, an MSD distributor and Crane Ignition box and coil. The monster exhales through a set of Hooker Super Comp headers that reach down to a 3 inch exhaust with 3 1/2 cut outs that you can control from the driver’s seat. There is a custom aluminum radiator with a custom made shroud keeping all of this action cool and check out the trick low riding placement of the AC compressor. All of the AC lines have been routed behind the passenger side fender well keeping the engine compartment pristine.
The suspension on the Camaro consists of Heidts upper and lower A arms, QA1 adjustable coil overs in the front and AVO coil overs in the rear. She rides on 2" dropped spindles and stopping the beast are a set of Wilwood brakes in the front and Aero Space calipers in the rear. There is a chrome master cylinder present with a line lock. The rear end is a Dana 60 with Detroit True-Trac and 3:73 Strange gears with Moser Axles. The Chevy is all equipped with Competition Engineering ladder bars and a Moly driveshaft loop. The transmission is a built Turbo 350 with stall converter that can be manually shifted.
The interior is beautifully appointed using 1997 Camaro seats that have been recovered to flow with the paint scheme on the car. There is more of that beautiful Tangelo paint on the dash and the wheel tubs have even be covered in custom stitched leather. Everything is new and in full show condition. The custom center console houses Autometer gauges and controls for the exhaust dumps. Right above that on the dash you’ll find the controls for the Vintage Air conditioning system that blows ice cold.
