Built on November 4th, 1968, in Dearborn, Michigan, this 1969 Mustang Mach 1 R code was completed 25 days behind schedule due to a labor strike. The Mustang is finished in Candy Apple Red with the blacked-out hood, over a White Clarion Knit interior. Most Red cars were ordered with a black interior and only 7.1% of them had white interiors according to the Marti Report.

This car was ordered with the most powerful engine available in the 1969 Mach 1, the “R” code 428/4V with the Ram air option, and the C6 transmission. The same engine was available without the “shaker” option which is known as the Q code. Luckily for us, Ford made it easy by putting the engine designation in the VIN, so just by looking at the actual car, we know this to be a factory R code Mustang. This car has the original engine with the matching serial number, and the correct date code heads, and intake. The engine was completely rebuilt and received all new pistons, rings, bearings, cam, lifters, pushrods and springs. The castings on the engine parts are mid/late August of 1968 which are correct for a car with an October 10th build date. The transmission is a C6 Cruise-o-Matic, but not the original. It was rebuilt with the correct tail shaft which is only found on cars with 428/4v engines. The rear end is the correct factory 3.50 Traction-Lok axle. The engine compartment is highly detailed complete with the factory emissions equipment, correct lines, hoses, and clamps.

Factory options:

C-6 Cruise-O-Matic

Optional axle ratio

Traction-Lok differential

F70x14 Traction tires

Power front disc brakes

Power steering

AM radio

Tachometer

Cosmetically the car is presented in excellent condition with show quality paint and excellent brightwork. The undercarriage of the car was fanatically refinished/detailed and has the correct red oxide finish complete with Candy Apple overspray. The interior looks as good as the exterior and features all-new soft components and restored original components such as the factory dash tach which is a rare sight in an automatic car.
