This 1968 Mustang Fastback GT is finished in Gulfstream Aqua over a standard Aqua interior. The car was scheduled to be built on May 24th, 1968 and was built two days ahead of schedule at the Metuchen plant. Documenting the car is a Marti Report and the factory buck tag.
This rotisserie restored car was taken down to bare metal and refinished in its correct Gulfstream Aqua paint. It is one of 2,423 fastbacks finished in this paint color. The undercarriage is beautifully detailed in “red oxide,” and the engine compartment is finished in the correct, factory look. The interior features new soft parts, restored gauges and the correct Philco AM radio. The car is equipped with a factory console
The matching numbers 302, J code engine was rebuilt during the restoration as was the C4 transmission. The rear end is a 3.25 ratio Ford 9,” and is a limited-slip unit. The engine compartment is highly detailed and very correct per the original factory look. The car uses the correct paint finishes, and all of the correct lines and hoses were used during the restoration.
The car features rebuilt brake and suspension systems throughout and has a nice restored/original feel on the open road. The Mustang runs cool, starts right up and looks like a million bucks cruising down the avenue.
