As we wait ever so patiently for the 6 piston brakes from our supplier, we reinstalled the engine back into the L89 black Camaro. The question everyone is asking is “will those giant headers fit?”  Maybe???? Stay tuned for that answer…

Mark spent a few hours today wiring the gauges for the Hellcat Camaro in the tidiest of ways. No bird nest behind that gauge pod. Good job Mark!img_8366

Mini Tub installation in L89 Camaro

We began removal of the factory wheel wells today so that we could install the mini tubs. This will allow us to run a much larger wheel in the rear of the car -  18″ by 12″ to be exact with a 335 rear tire. This is  a fairly time consuming proceedure as over 100 small spot welds must be drilled out to remove the original wheel wells, and the rear subframe must be narrowed.

Almost all of the conversion parts have arrived and we just removed the front body panels so we can remove the engine and transmission.

We are performing a retro-mod on a gorgeous 1969 Camaro SS equipped with an L89 motor, and 4 speed M22 rock crusher transmission. After much debate, my client decided to stick with the current drive train which and do some tasty upgrades to the suspension and the brakes. The result will be a sort of “best of the old, best of the new” set up that should definately turn some heads.

I’ll link to some photos later this week that we took before any of the mods were completed and then post our progress.

Here’s the current upgrades that we’ve selected for the car:

DSE Hydroformed Subframe and suspension

• Hydroformed Framerails
• Stamped Crossmembers
• Tubular Upper and Lower Control Arms
• Coilover Shocks for Subframe with “Detroit
Tuned” valving
• Coilover Spring
• Power Rack and Pinion Steering
• Splined Sway Bar
• C6 Steering Knuckles and Bearing Packs

DSE QuadraLink rear supension

Ford 9″ rear end with aluminum center section

Baer 6 Piston Aluminum Calipers and 14″ rotors

Mini Tub and Subframe connectors

Vintage AC with black front runner kit
