This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS has undergone a complete frame off restoration back to showroom condition. Built in Arlington, Texas in the second week of May, the Chevelle is finished in correct Cranberry Red with a Cranberry Red (75 75) top over a black Strato Bucket interior (756). It comes with its numbers matching engine, number matching transmission, and original rear end.

During the restoration, the body of the car was stripped down to bare metal and the frame was media blasted. Post blocking and sanding, the body received a two stage base/clear paint job that was color sanded and buffed to a proper show car finish. The stainless trim has been redone, and the chrome bumpers were replaced. All the body rubbers are new from front to rear and the glass is all original with the exception of the windshield.

The interior was redone in the proper code 756 black Strato buckets with the factory console. All gauges work properly, and the radio has been upgraded to a digital unit with JBL speakers in the rear and Kenwood up front. The A/C system in the car was completely restored by Classic Auto Air, and was converted to properly work on 134A. It has the proper factory look and blows ice cold. The car also has a brand new wiring harness from front to rear

The Chevelle SS retains its original, matching numbers L34 350 hp 396 CI engine. The engine was originally assembled on 4/22, predating the assembly of the car in the second week of May. The block was cast on November 18th, and the casting number is 396985. During the restoration, the engine was rebuilt by MBJ in St. Louis. Prior to assembly, the it was balanced and bronze guides were added to the heads. The transmission is also the original, matching numbers Turbo Hydramatic 400 unit per the serial number on the side of the case. The exhaust system is a top of the line, and factory correct Gardner Concourse Show Package. Gardner makes an exact replica of the original systems that came on these cars.

The brakes were completely rebuilt with all new steel lines and hoses. The master cylinder is new, and the original booster was rebuilt. The springs are the correct originals and the shocks have been updated to Bilstein units. The steering gearbox has been changed to a quick ratio 12:1 box, and the steering column was rebuilt as well. The suspension uses Extreme Energy Urethane bushings and the tie rods and ball joints are all Moog.
