Built in the second week of April, this 1966 Pontiac GTO convertible is finished in Candlelite Cream over a black interior with a black top, and comes documented with PHS docs verifying that it is a genuine GTO. The car underwent a full frame off rotisserie restoration in 2014 and is fully restored and ready to enjoy.

The GTO was an excellent candidate for restoration and still has its original floorboards intact with all of its factory spot welds and no patch panels. The car was stripped down to bare metal and was refinished in its original Candlelite Cream hue. All of the trim has been restored or refinished and the chrome has all been replaced as well. The undercarriage is immaculate and detailed to the nines complete with a media blasted and refinished frame, GM satin black floor boards and detailed and refinished suspension components.

The engine is a NOM 389 with the 4bbl carb. It is date code correct for the car and was rebuilt during the restoration. It provides wonderful and reliable power for the car and has no trouble blowing the tires loose if you desire. The transmission is a Turbo 350 from Summit Racing and the rear end is the correct 3.23 Safe T track set up. The car starts right up and runs great both around town and out on the highway. The 3.23 gearing is a good combination for around town performance and highway cruising, and the car does great cruising between 70 and 75 MPH. It maintains a steady 180 to 190 degree water temp and does not warm up in stop and go traffic.

The interior has been completely replaced with all new OPGI parts. The wood on the front of the dash is new as well and the gauges have been rebuilt and are in good working order. The top was also replaced during the restoration and is in mint condition. The factory console is in place as well with the factory correct shifter handle. In the trunk is a full spare with correct jack.

The suspension was completely rebuilt from front to rear and has new ball joints, tie rods, a arm bushings, rebuilt steering linkage and a rebuilt steering box. The car rides very well and the GTO is as tight as they ever were when these cars were new. It benefits from a set of new radial tires riding on brand new wheels. It also has power front disc/rear drum brakes and the steering is power which make cruising the car a breeze.
